New Elliptical Trainers
Invented by Larry D. Miller in the early 1990’s, Elliptical trainers were and sold to Precor and later patented in 2004. Miller’s idea was to take the exact running motion and put it into a machine that puts less strain on the joints, but comparable to a treadmill in its exertion of leg muscles and the heart. Elliptical Trainers produce an intermediate range of leg motion between that of stationary bikes and treadmills and there are claims that the dual action exercise of an elliptical trainer can actually be more efficient in burning calories. The logic is that by exercising more muscle groups simultaneously, a more intense workout can be achieved in less time. It is also suggested that the perceived rate of exertion is lower.
Most modern elliptical trainers work the upper and lower body but earlier models were strictly lower body cardiovascular workouts. Elliptical trainers are categorized by the motor or "drive" location; they are the rear drive, front-drive and center-drive.
Global Fitness offers a wide array of elliptical trainers to our customers but most, if not all of our elliptical trainers are commercial brands and models.
