| Used Schwinn Evolution Indoor Cycling Bike Overview |
 |
Built like a tank out of robotic steel monococque, the Schwinn® Evolution Group Cycling Bike builds upon the popular Schwinn® IC Pro model by adding a sturdier frame, trapezoidal in shape, which creates a "wedge effect" for increased stability. It features a specially designed seat and handlebar adjusters to even further increase stability, and a Shimano sealed-cartridge bottom bracket. By combining true road-racing geometry with high quality cycling components, you can cycle at far higher RPMs on the Evolution. Designed for in and out-of-saddle riding, the handlebars are adjustable to a variety of positions. You can control resistance easily with a readily accessible knob – press down on the brake lever if you need an emergency stop. The 38 lb flywheel with sealed bearing hubs further simulates a road-bike feel, and resistance levels are infinitely variable. The secure pop-pins are constructed of corrosion resistant stainless steel which can be quickly threaded for a tight hold on the sliding tubes. Finally, the zinc-plated frame is designed for long-life and maximum corrosion resistance; stainless steel fasteners provide further longevity. |

| The Schwinn Evolution is the state of the art! |
| Written by/ A. Wunderland | 2012-11-08 |
| The Schwinn Evolution is the state of the art, spin bike. Schwinn Evolution is the prototype design that created the spin-bike market. This is the choice of commercial gyms where spin bikes get heavy use and abuse. The design is solid. 38 lb flywheel ensures exceptional momentum / pace cadence. Drag adjust on the flywheel is super fine, Dial has molded "compass points" (Schwinn logo) to afford changing resistance during intervals and returning to previous settings. Seat adjusts to pre-set 1 inch interval heights as well as fore/aft. I discovered the seat bracket on mine was set to the rear. Moving the bracket 180 degrees to the front allows proper fore / aft adjustment. Saddle tilt is set w/ the traditional wrench, bolt and friction clamp found on low-end recreational and hobby bikes. Seems like for $1000 or more, Schwinn could provide a more precise/stronger seat clamp -- as featured on today's racing and MTB machines. Nonetheless, the seat clamp is secure, unmoving. I replaced the padded, recreational saddle with a racing saddle. Bars adjust for height, but not for tilt radius fore/aft. The up side of this design is that the bars will not move out of adjustment when the rider is standing and hammering on the pedals. These bars extend forward with an up-tilted end, mid point cross grips. Plenty of hand positions offered on the these bars, and they're all rock-solid. Reasonably good quality pedals/straps. I replaced mine with clip-on style because I have the shoes and these same pedals on two other road bikes. Schwinn Evolution is the gold-standard in spin bikes. The platform is solid, bomb-proof, and you can ride as hard and fast as you might on a road or MTB machine and not fear that the Evolution will tip, rumble, or otherwise compromise your training |
