The Insider's Guide to IHRSA 2012

2012 was a refreshing change for IHRSA since it was being hosted in Los Angeles for the first time, this brought about an opportunity for Global Fitness. Since the Los Angles convention center was in literally in our backyard, just 20 Minutes down the 110 freeway, we decided we would for the first time exhibit. In addition, we thought we would take it upon ourselves to put together a page about the show, the major exhibitors and notable new products.

The most significant product update for Precor; The AMT 885 with Open Stride technology, what is that? Open Stride™ sets users free to adjust their stride height at will from 6.8 to 10 inches (17 to 25 cm). Combine this with the AMT’s ability to dynamically adapt the exercisers’ stride length from zero to 36 inches (0 to 91 cm). This enables an infinite range of motion paths and the capability to duplicate the workout of treadmills, ellipticals and bikes. Precor also introduced Preva Net, a network technology that connects their apple like consoles to the internet. It has been designed to deliver a wide variety of internet content carefully selected to give exercisers access to popular topics such as health and fitness, news, sports, technology, business and more, all delivered in a format designed specifically for the in-motion exerciser.

TechnoGym Vario at the ihrsa

TechnoGym answers Precors’ AMT with Vario! Like the AMT and unlike a traditional fixed movement cross-trainer, Vario offers the option to define your unique path or motion. It’s perfect for those of you want to lose weight and burn calories without exertion. The Vario claims to improve your coordination, help prevent joint problems and move all the muscles in your body in a single training session, it’s also supposed to be fun to use because it offers you three different movements – step, elliptical, and Vario – which you can change without the need to stop the machine or take your feet off the platforms. The platforms and levers move when and how you want because you choose and direct the movement according to your natural pace and training goals. We didn’t get a chance to demo the Vario but as with all Technogym products, I am sure it will live up to it’s’ claims! GlobalFitness INC.
